Encouraging children to retell or make up stories in their own worlds is excellent for their language, communication and literacy development. Putting on puppet shows together encourages sharing, negotiating and turn taking skills. Not only that but finger puppets prompt children to move their fingers independently of each other, which is good for their fine motor development.
